Following the unveiling of the FT series diesel locomotives, EMD, famous diesel train manufacturer produced a masterpiece. The F2 boasted 1,350 horsepower. Its familiar strength came from his older brother the FT!
In production for a limited time the F2 set the standard for years to come. Shortly following the F2 came the EMD F3. The F3 series was slated to operate as both a passenger liner and a freight hauler. the F2 and F3 performed admirably until their decommissioning in 1949. They where then replaced by the infamous F7's
