By 1939 EMD unveiled its new FT series locomotives. These freight haulers borrowed their basic design from the older E series passenger liners. Encompassed in a more compact chassis the 5400 horse power EMD proved to be a real workhorse during the days of WWII.
During the mid 40′s the EMD’s under went several transformations leading up to the world famous EMD F7 in “49″
These diesel locomotives where purchased by most railroads in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
