S Scale Locomotives – Why Do Some Individuals Insist On Mistaking S Scale for Standard Gauge?
S Scale Numerically Breaks Down Into This Ratio –
- S Scale is 1:64 or 3/16 of Full Size
- This Translates S Scale as (1) inch on the miniature… representing (64) inches of “Live Train!”
- S Scale (Track) Gauge = .883 inches (distance between “running” track)
The quandary between S Gauge and Standard Scale maybe due to S Scale being the only gauge in the UK to avoid crossing British(imperial) and US(Metric) Units. In my opinion this continuity has fused an imaginary bridge between units, distorting the perceptions of thousands of unsuspecting model railway lovers. The (S) in S Scale surly cant help the situation.
Of course this is just my opinion. I would deeply like to hear your theories. If you have any valid point or explanation for the confusion between Standard Gauge and S Scale, please post your opinion!
