These particular Baldwin diesel engines where unique as they where individually built… which mint “NO ASSEMBLY LINES”. This caused problems as each locomotive was sightly different causing havoc for maintenance guys.

Casey Jones Village | Model Train Museum

Mighty Casey sealed his fate on April 30th, 1900 as he and engine fireman Sim Webb chugged along the lines in Vaughn Mississippi. The pair where on route to Canton, Mississippi only to discover the track was blocked by a halted caboose and train just a few hundred feet in front of them. Unfortunately Mighty Casey was cruising to fast to stop the locomotive in time.
